“132 5. ISSEY MIYAKE” designed by Issey Miyake and REALITY LAB present its 2015 SS collection under the theme “Circle.”

Following the previous theme “Triangle,” the brand continues to introduce shapes into its designs. Curvy forms and drapes are combined with the brand’s symbolic linear and angular designs.

Using Miyake’s “A Piece of Cloth” philosophy, which is based on the mathematical program with 3D geometric principles by Associate Professor Jun Mitani of the University of Tsukuba, 132 5. ISSEY MIYAKE creates brilliant and complex 3D forms that become 2D when folded. The new collection introducing circles is dubbed “No.12.” The octagonal designs presented for Collection “No.9” are folded into circular forms to design jackets, blouses, dresses and pants for the latest collection.

A supersonic wave cutter is used to cut identical circular forms which serve as the base of the designs. Recycled polyester which was developed with Teijin Frontier Co., Ltd. and polyester mixed with hemp thread are used for the warp and weft respectively to stabilize the shape of the material. The quick-drying designs do not lose their natural texture when machine-washed. The designs are created either with the material with 65% polyester and 35% hemp or the one with 87% polyester and 13% hemp. The lineup includes- light spring/summer items to outerwear in the colors blue, beige and more.

From this season, “132 5. ISSEY MIYAKE MEN” is launched. The line presents bottoms, short-sleeved shirts using the above-mentioned materials, hemp blended pants and short- length coats. The hemp blended pants are switched over with slanted lines to create the flat structure.

In addition, a series of bags incorporating the 12 themes featured from Collection “No. 1” onward are presented.
