On the 4th, a long established American pancake franchise store “The Original Pancake House” opens its first store in Japan on the 1st floor of Marui Kichijoji Store (1-7-1 Kichijoji Minami-cho, Musashino-shi, Tokyo).

The store in Kichijoji faithfully reproduces pancakes produced in the homeland for sixty years through the traditional process and technique. Menus such as “Dutch baby” (1,280 yen), German pancake topped with handmade whipped butter, lemon, and powdered sugar, “Apple pancake” (1,680 yen), abundantly heaped baked apples with cinnamon, “Buttermilk pancake” (800 yen) topped with handmade whipped butter and maple syrup, and other original pancakes, crepes, waffles and egg dishes are available. The store is open from 9 am to 9 pm. For the first 100 customers, each on the 4th and 5th, will be gifted an original tote bag illustrated with the store’s character.

Founded by Les Highet and Erma Hueneke in Portland, Oregon in 1953, The Original Pancake House has 117 stores across America as well as overseas stores in Seoul, South Korea. Ingredients such as kneaded dough with natural yeast fermented for three days, whipped butter, syrup and sauce were devised from research based on recipes popular in other countries.
